HashT is a program that calculates different hash algorithms on a selected file. With this tool you can detect any variation on a file. If you download a file from a website first check if there is a hash value for the original file on that site. In most cases there is an MD5 hash code (it's not very secure !!!) on the website. After download check the file with this tool and compare the resulting hash code with that from the website. If they match you can be very sure (if the hash is a Whirlpool or SHA512) or slightly sure (if the hash is a MD5) that this file is the original one (if the website is not a fake). To give your own files a secure fingerprint in future you should only use the Whirlpool or SHA512 hash algorithm. They are both strong secure hashes. |
